Message from the Director

Director, Leadership CentreThe MUBS Leadership Centre is focusing on important and topical aspects of leadership and governance practices nationally and internationally. The traditional role of managers, team leaders or supervisors as overseers of work practices is changing to one of a leader.

A leader is a facilitator, enabler and must have the capacity to influence others, to guide and direct them towards success. Organizations in the different parts of the world including Uganda are faced with problems of mismanagement, corruption and the related evils which lead to poor performance and some times collapse of such organizations. The cause of this is mainly due to decline in societal and business ethics which must be addressed and here, the MUBS Leadership centre’s Vision, Mission, and Objectives give great hope. I therefore, encourage all of you who are willing to achieve great things to join hands with the MUBS Leadership Centre in effort to develop and exercise your leadership abilities.

And for the organizations, to combine efforts of recapturing the lost good values of performance, decency and integrity in your organizations. We Welcome contributions to our quarterly Newsletters, we also welcome those who want to be trained in Leadership and governance matters, encourage and call for research proposals in leadership and governance.

1st International Leadership Conference held


The MUBS Leadership Centre held the 1st Leadership Conference on June 16 - 19, 2010 that brought together leaders, and researchers in the areas of leadership and governance to discuss the leadership issues affecting not only nations but also organizations. More specifically, African nations and organizations have failed to deliver necessary growth to transform society; this is now partly attributed to leadership. Many African organizations have failed to compete globally and among the factors identified is that of organizational leadership. The conference provided a forum for discussion of these issues under the  theme:
